Grace in Winter

winter-landscape

The outer seasons are such a beautiful guide to how we nurture our inner landscape. It all felt so clear on a day break walk over Christmas…

In between worlds.
Morning rise skies,
Tinged with pink.
Spectral mist
Edging away.

Orchestral birds,
A playful cacophony as
The chorus commences.
Their collective song
Beckons
The pocket
Of wintry light
That graces us.

The ploughed land,
In stillness atop.
Late autumn
Growth
In stasis.
Below,
Lies a ripeness.
Readying herself.

Winter allows her
To rest.
Timely in her
Preparations.
A fertile future
Awaits.

The skeletal trees
Don’t mourn the
Fallen leaves.
The shedding.
Purposeful,
Necessary.

Majesty in their form.
Proudly bare.
They hold
Wisdom.
Seasons turn.
Rebirth follows
The exquiste death state
Of winter.
